A resolution from grassroots Manitoba NDP members calling for the development of a new provincial flag was not even debated at the party's annual convention in Brandon this weekend.

The resolution by the NDP's Riel constituency association in south Winnipeg had said Manitoba's flag "is outdated and a relic from the days of our former British colonial heritage".

On Sunday afternoon, party brass said the resolution "was not prioritized, not debated, and consequently not passed" at the convention, which ends Sunday.
